From Kuba Bączek, POL F18 Chair

The 2026 Polish Catamaran Championships, held in Sopot from 7–9 August, are now behind us!
Over 40 teams took part in the regatta, including 10 F18 teams. It was a challenging and exciting three days of racing with constantly changing conditions and plenty of surprises on the race course.
🌬️ Day 1
Warm and partly cloudy, with the wind starting at around 10 knots and building to 14–15 knots, with gusts reaching up to 20 knots. We managed to complete four races. The conditions were tricky, with the favoured side of the course changing almost every lap, leading to some big shifts in the fleet and plenty of position changes.
☀️ Day 2
More sunshine and slightly lighter breeze, around 10–15 knots, but still very shifty with frequent gusts. Another four races were completed, plus one race that had to be abandoned after a huge wind shift made racing impossible.
🌊 Day 3
Only one race was scheduled for the final day, but the forecast was unfortunately very poor. The F18, A-Class and Hobie Cat fleets went out on the water, but after almost two hours of attempts to start and repeated race interruptions, the racing was finally abandoned.
🏆 Final podium
🥇 Kuba & Ania Bączek – Nacra Evolution
🥈 Arkadiusz Piernicki & Jerzy Białek – Exploder Scorpion
🥉 Krzysztof Bassak & Piotr Siciński – Exploder Scorpion

A huge thank you to UKS Navigo Sopot for organising the championship and to everyone involved in making the event happen.
And of course, a big thank you to all the sailors for three days of intense racing, tough conditions and great competition! 💨⛵️
