On Friday 24th October 2014 we know the new F18 US Champions: Mike Easton and Tripp Burd. It wasn’t an easy job for them, they were challenged by a group of very worthy competitors whole week. In the end they showed an incredible skill and walked away with the top award. The Argentinian team of Cruz Gonzalez Smith and Mariano Heuser did an excellent job: They scored the best result by an Argentina F18 team ever in a foreign country. John Casey and Colin Page, who sailed their first regatta together, became third.
The sailors got everything the wanted, from 6 to 16 knots over the week and were able to sail 14 races. Although, not everone sailed 14 races. Guy Selsmeyer and JJ Johnson had to be towed to the beach because they’re sinking after a serious collision. But, after a long day/night doing magic with fiberglass & polyester they were back on the water the next day.
The sailors and F18 organization are looking back at a great event. The Corpus Christi Yacht Club did an awesome job hosting the fleet. Every day they provided food, drinks and entertainment. The F18 International Class Association received an open invitation to host a future F18 Worlds. Next year the F18 US Nationals 2015 will be held in Charlotte Harbor (Florida).
