Our Box Rule, although being 25 years old, is still young by benefiting from a continuous development as permitted by Class Rules and, as a consequence, early boat designs are now less performing compared to more modern machines.
In order to give a second racing life to these boats, and to encourage owners to participate in big F18 events, we will award, with the full support of Spanish F18 Class Association, special prizes to Classic F18s during next Worlds to be sailed in La Ballena Alegre from 27th June to 4th July.
For this first attempt, a Classic F18 will be defined according to hull shape only, by not having inverted bows. So please register in this new category would you sail a Tiger, Inter 18, Alado, Hawk, Diam, Cirrus 1st generation, Mattia, Racecat, Mystere, or such kind of boat.
Understandably, we will then debrief after the championship to decide whether or not we would need to refine Classic boat criteria, in order to make this new category as successful as possible.
