Both competitors and Race Officer did suffer from very shifty wind conditions on Day 1 at 2016 Worlds, making the task hard to complete the 3 scheduled races, and for team Cruz Gonzalez Smith – Mariano Heuser to take the provisional lead.

First racing day started with pretty light conditions, forcing RO to abandon the first race as competitors did not succeeded in reaching mark 1 within the 15 minutes time limit. After that, wind continuously increased from 8 to 10 knots during race 1, 12 to 15 during race 2, and race 3 being sailed by quite a steady 16-18 knots, with strong appeals to the left of the course area.

At the end of the day, and despite teams from Uruguay, Germany and Guatemala did scored 4th or 5th places here and there, Argentinian teams trust the ninth first places on the provisional ranking, just ahead first mixed crew from Chile Pablo Gallyas – Isidora Urrutia, ranked 10th.

It is to note the very tight positions at the front of the fleet, places 1 to 4 being separated by 3 points, and places 5 to 7 by 3 points too.

So the Championship remains definitely more than open…
