A first leg that keeps its promises
The 29 sport catamarans that left Erquy for Brehat yesterday “swallowed up” the 28 nautical miles in a little less than four hours, just over three hours for the first one, FRA7 of Emeric Dary and David Fenouillère, less than three minutes ahead FRA 7622 of Charles and Maxime Hainneville, closely followed by ARG 7* of the Swedes Rasmus Rosengreen and Thomas Ekefalk.

“We ranked all teams within 40 minutes, says Olivier Bovyn, President of the Club de Voile de la Baie d’Erquy who organized the event. We had a good wind that strengthened just before Paimpol. Right in the nose, hence a very tactical race.”
However, at the end of this first day, the race obviously remains very open. The five Viper-type catamarans, a little bit slower than the 24 F18 engaged, are not the last in the standings, proof if it were that pure speed is not enough to get well ranked at destination.
On Thursday, after a good resting night in Bréhat, the boats laying well protected at Glénans sailing school, huge thanks to them, for welcoming the fleet on their strip, the Coastarmoricaine will reach Perros-Guirec at the end of one of the longest stages of the raid. Over a distance of 31 or 41 miles (57 or 73 kilometers), depending on weather conditions, the slightest trajectory error can be costly!
