Belgian team Patrick Demesmaeker and Gilles Tas became Champions in the F18 series at Dutch Open Championships held in Medemblik. With full score on Day 1, giving five bullets, two 2nd, and one 3rd place (discarded) on 8 sailed races, leading to a 10 points score at the end, the regatta went off pretty easily for the winners: “When the wind is strong enough and steady, we go fast” Patrick Demesmaeker said, “Today was a bit more difficult: the wind was shifting, and there was a lot of pressure difference. But in the last series, we knew we were in the right place.”

“This is a fantastic event with all those different classes. We don’t have anything similar in Belgium!” further commented Patrick.

Scores were pretty tight for 2nd, 3rd & 4th, Belgian team Philip Hendrickx and Laurent Verbeek getting 21 points, father/son Ad and Maarten Noordzij (NED) finishing third with 22 points in a tie with son/father pair Hans and Marius van Dam (NED)…
