St Barth Cata Cup – Formula 18 topsailors on their way to sailing mecca

At the end of each year it’s time for a final meeting between the lucky ones. Each year it’s a big question who’ll be allowed to sail the 7th Cata Cup in St Barth. From the moment the registration was open it was already a race (against time) to secure your entry. Sixty sailors from fitheen countries will be at the startline in about a week. All participants are on their way to the tropical island to have enough time to build their boats and enjoy the parties. The Cata Cup will start on 19th Nov, the winner will be known on the 23th Nov.

This edition will be a good one again! Franck Cammas and MatthieuVandame (winners of the previous edition) will have a hard time defending their trophy. Billy Besson will join the fleet with Marie Riou who showed their skills on the Olympic cat all year long. Mike Easton, who recently won the F18 U.S. Nationals managed to have Matthew Whitehead on board. But, don’t under estimate the presence of ‘Boulogne Borthers’ or the 70-year sailing experience of Gerard Loos/Andy Dinsdale.

The official opening is planned on 17th Nov, first races will start on 20th Nov. More information and results can be found on the event website and facebook.
