From Kuba Baczek, Polish F18 Class Association
Regatta Story
Last weekend (September 5–7), the Gulf of Puck turned into a true sailing battleground! Mechelinki hosted the Polish F18 Catamaran Championships – three days of racing, changing conditions, and top-level competition.
🔹 Day 1 – two races in light breeze (around 2 Bf). The third race had to be abandoned due to fading wind and an approaching storm.
🔹 Day 2 – sailors showed their full potential with four excellent races in steady winds of 3–4 Bf.
🔹 Day 3 – initially it seemed there would be no more racing. Crews waited onshore for more than an hour, but patience paid off – the breeze filled in at 2 Bf, allowing three more races to be completed!
Results
After nine races, the podium looked as follows:
🥇 Polish Champions – Tymoteusz Bendyk & Marcin Badzio (Exploder Skorpion)
🥈 Vice-Champions – Kuba Bączek & Anna Bączek (Nacra Evolution)
🥉 3rd place – Krzysztof Bassak & Piotr Siciński (Exploder Skorpion)
Congratulations to all competitors for their determination and spirit, and special thanks to Stowarzyszenie Port Mechelinki for flawless organization – both on the water and ashore.
