Punta Ala confirmed theatre of great emotions

Punta Ala is confirmed theatre of great emotions: triumph of Stella-Recalcati at the Formula 18 National Regatta! The splendid setting of the gulf of Follonica, which in that part shows all its beauty, hosted the third stage of the national circuit of Formula 18 organized by the Sailing Center Punta Ala, giving three days of pure sailing passion.

With 22 crews ready to challenge each other, the week-end was a mix of wind, sun and fun, in perfect conditions for a race that kept everyone on their toes.

The weather was great

On Friday, one single race with a light wind from West/ South-West, which started the event.

Saturday, however, was the day of the most intense challenges, with four races that tested the athletes’ abilities thanks to a stable and pleasant wind always from the west.

Sunday gave the grand finale: wind in reinforcement up to more than 10 knots, forming light waves and creating an atmosphere of great adrenaline and spectacle in the waters of the PuntAla.

The winners, the now close-knit, Stella-Recalcati saw their leadership questioned, race after race, by their club mates from Centro Vela dervio Viganò-Viganò, putting it all and finishing two points behind, fighting edge by edge.

Prize giving

The award ceremony, held in the late afternoon at the Punta Ala Camp & Resort, concluded this event where there were moments of relaxation in the shade of pine forests… Beach volleyball matches, swimming in the sea, aperitifs at sunset in a true sport and sea party atmosphere as in the spirit of the Formula18 Catamarans Italy.
