The Class implemented a new certification process three years ago in order to ease both builders, sailmakers and sailors life, in making possible self-certification by manufacturers, and one can draw a very positive initial assessment of this new system, evidenced by close to 1.200 sails, 1.000 appendages and 100+ registered boats.
However, we encountered a few situations that caused us to cancel some issued certificates.
In order to ensure fairness as well as the reliability of the system, we therefore deemed it necessary to specify the rights and duties of the F18 Measurers authorized to record sails and equipment in the database.
As a result, we decided to implement a Code of Conduct that will be in force starting from March 1, 2026, and whose acceptance will be necessary for the continuation of the validation of the measurement certificates.
Thanks to our Vice-President Steve Stroebel for drafting this document, endorsed by the Executive Committee.
Looking forward a great 2026 season, that started brilliantly with the Worlds organized by Jervoise Bay Sailing Club,
On behalf of the Executive Committee,
Olivier Bovyn
