The D-day has finally arrived: that of the mythical Grand Raid de l’Eurocat!

The wind had unfortunately not decided to be present, which forced the race committee to change its plans. In 7 to 10 knots of wind and under a magnificent sun, instead of the traditional Round Isle de Houat long distance race, the 122 registered crews completed a 13 miles great course in the bay of Quiberon, passing through Nord Quiberon buoy and the Petit Trého. Light conditions that forced the competitors to make tactical choices on certain sections of the course.

Line honours went to French Pair Ferrari/Fanouillère, sailing their Nacra F20 Carbon.

Francis Ferrari:

“It was a beautiful day, we would have preferred to go around Houat but making decisions as a race committee is complicated, especially with more than 120 boats to manage. It was a beautiful course, very nice, the conditions of navigation were very nice. I participated in about fifteen Eurocat and I come back because it is a regatta that is part of the big events of the season, it is a must. The YC Carnac is really nice, the organization is perfect and the sailing area is great. The Eurocat is a cult event, it has something mythical.”
