Champagne sailing in Noordwijk to complete Qualification Series

From worry to pleasure

Everybody were worried at skippers meeting on Thursday morning in Noordwijk, as there were only two completed races for both fleets, when six were requested to end qualification series before possibly building Gold & Silver Final Fleets…

Thanks to Neptune and Aeolus, a light 6-8 knots breeze came just by 2:00 pm, before increasing up to 15-18 knots, creating perfect conditions for Blue and Yellow groups to sail four races back to back, sailors coming ashore by 7:00 pm, a little bit tired, but definitely happy!

No surprise at the front of the fleet

Actually, one can find all the names presented on Monday at the top of the list below, Bundock/Bouwer and Gonzalez-Smith/Heuser gaining a slight advantage upon their direct opponents, eleven of those being within a 6 points score range…

A decisive final day

Similar to track and Field, no right for a mistake in the final races, as there will be no possible discard in the series… This will remind the 2009 duel between Misha Heemskerk and Billy Besson in Knokke, the two of them being Black Flagged in the last sailed race!
